Peeking

One day, as I walked toward my studio, I saw the neighbor’s Siamese cat poking about near an old half crushed toy car.  As I watched, I saw a mouse run around inside the car.  The cat looked for half an  hour for the mouse, then he gave up and left.  As I watched, the mouse peeked out of the car to see if it was safe to come out.  I just had to paint this….:)

Fido

I named this painting Fido, because to me, it looked like Huckleberry Hound.  Do you remember that old cartoon?  One of my friends said, “Who but Donna would paint a fire hydrant!?”  That made me laugh.

This little painting went to Alaska, it sold in an Etsy shop called “Artist Peeps R Us“, where I was invited to display my work along with some other artist friends.

Fire Dragon

He’s looking right at you!  Are you trembling in your boots?  He’s a very ferocious dragon, breathing fire all over the place, scorching the ancient forest, roasting the little creatures….someone needs to do something about him!

I’ve been looking for a hero, a knight in shining armor, who can slay this beast, or at least tame him to his will…any takers?

Corki

Corki went to Wine and Whiskers, and was sold at their auction to raise money for the Roundup, Montana Humane Society.  You can see photos of the event, Wine and Whiskers, by clicking the link.  In one of the photos, if you look closely, you can see Corki there, it’s the third photo down.

Corki was painted from a photo I took of my cousin’s little Corgi dog.  Corki was so happy!  She loved riding the four wheeler to go fencing or chasing cattle for she was a ranch dog.

I’m glad Corki was able to raise money to help her canine friends who need homes and food!

As a member of Art for Critters, I donate money to charities who animals in need.

Evening on the Prairie

Robert and I were out roaming around the country on the backroads, looking for scenes to photograph, when we found a teepee set up in a yard.  The photos were in full sunlight, but I wondered what the teepee would look like in the moonlight.  So I painted it, there’s a fire inside, the people are telling stories, the pony herd is behind the teepee sleeping on the prairie grass.  The big moon is shining down on all of it, illuminating the edges of the Montana buttes.

This is a watercolor painting, on heavy watercolor paper.  It’s an ACEO card, which stands for Art Cards Editions and Originals.  These cards are 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches in size.  About the size of a playing card in a regular deck of cards.  They’re fun and easy to collect!  Store them in baseball card sleeves in a photo album and look through your collection often, you’ll find a wonderful sense of enjoyment in your private collection.

Montana Cow

This painting is a little ACEO card.  ACEO cards, (Art Cards Editions and Originals) are highly collectible, tiny works of art, the size of a playing card.  Search for them on Ebay and you’ll find thousands of them, painted in any style or subject you could wish for!

We found this high headed cow near Craig, Montana, on the old highway.  I loved the look she had in her eye, she was ready for fight or flight for sure!  Of course I had to paint her.

Montana Moon

We came home from the Montana State Fair one evening in August.  As we came off the freeway we saw this huge moon shining down on Square Butte.  I knew I had to paint this scene.  It was sheer magic, the way the moon lit up the edges of the buttes, and hills.  The stars were shining bright, and the moon was the star of the show!

This image is 4X4 inches in size, on a gallery wrap canvas.  The painting continues on around the sides and this needs no framing.  $64.95

For the first time in almost 10 years, this summer, I had some flower beds established.  My favorites are hollyhocks and I think the hollyhocks knew it!  They grew 10 feet tall.  The began to bloom the first of July, and they had blooms on them when frost hit a couple weeks ago.  It was so wonderful to have those flowers almost the entire summer!

A neat point of interest about my hollies is this…the tallest, lushest flowers with the strongest stalks, grew in a bed of gravel.  I watered them, but that was the most care they received.  For a bit of water, and some stony soil, they gave me the best present my yard has presented in years.

Next year, I’m going to feed them and see what happens!
